What is Airlock?

    Older generations have all sorts of places where they can share their passions with like-minded people.  If your main passions are sailing or golf, you might be content with what is available... but what if you're a nerd?  Where do you go to play D&D?  Or Magic: The Gathering?  Where do you go to watch the latest episode of your favorite show or movie?  Where do you go to watch a SpaceX or NASA launch?  Wouldn't it be great to have a place to share these things with people who are just as excited about them as you are?

    Perhaps you go to your local hobby shop for some or all of those things, and while it's a great place to purchase stuff, it's generally not a great place to experience it.  Airlock doesn't want to compete with hobby shops, so the focus won't be on retail and selling core items, instead we'll focus on services, specialty items, food and drink.  Airlock is all about environment, experience and community. We wish to have a symbiotic relationship with local hobby shops, where we drive business to them for core hobby items and they drive business to us for experiences that they are unable to provide.

   Why choose?  We firmly believe in the traditional combination of character sheet, dice and 'theatre of the mind' style gameplay for tabletop role playing games.  We're also curious what emerging technologies might allow dungeon masters and players alike to have a broader palette for self-expression, or maybe just tech that streamlines gameplay without removing any key visceral components from the game.  Currently, AR goggles (Tilt5 pictured) and bluetooth dice are two of the most recent technologies we're experimenting with to see if we'll offer them as future services.
